Machining demonstrations and new products at MACH from M.A. Ford Europe

Alongside several new products that are being shown at MACH for the first time, a key feature of M.A. Ford Europe’s stand 470 in Hall 20, will be its machining demonstrations, which will be running throughout the show, putting various high performance tooling through their paces on a Haas VF-2SSYT.

One of the products scheduled for the tooling demonstrations is the new Series XV5CB. As part of the TuffCut® XV high performance end mill family, the new 5-flute tool is designed to deliver exceptional metal removal on steel, stainless steel and titanium alloys.

Combining a new ALtima® Q coating, staggered chip-breakers and open-end geometry for aggressive engagement, the XV5CB also incorporates a thick core and variable pitch flute geometry. These help to minimise harmonic vibration while increasing strength in applications with cut depths up to 4xD axial engagement.

Also being demonstrated will be two new high feed solid carbide end mill ranges, the Series FHFN and FHFP. Incorporating a necked design, both products deliver rapid metal removal across a range of ISO materials with a choice of 4, 5 and 6 flutes depending on the diameter and necked length, which are 3 and 4xD for the FHFN and 3, 5 and 8xD for the FHFP.

Other key products being shown at MACH include the new Series XM range of 2 flute and 4 flute micro-machining end mills, which offer diameters from just 0.1mm up to a maximum of 6.0mm. The range includes more than 750 individual product lines, which are already in stock and available for next day UK delivery.

Both square end and ball-nose designs are included in the range, while their micron precision tolerances give improved accuracy and surface finish, which are critical for fine micro-machining, such as medical, aerospace and watchmaking applications.

Alongside these, the latest Series XFO oval form end mills are designed to improve surface finish and optimise cycle times in 5 axis finishing operations. The XFO combines ALtima® Q coating technology, progressive helix & rake angles, as well as enhanced edge preparation for vibration free finishing on steels, stainless steels and special alloys.

Also within the range, the Series XFO-AL option is dedicated to delivering the same high performance as the XFO, but on aluminium and non-ferrous materials with a Fordlube coating. Both the XFO and XFO-AL are available in diameters from 6mm to 12mm.

M.A. Ford’s new FordGrip hydraulic milling chuck range is extended with the latest HC25 model, in BT; HSK-A and SK options, which can also accept the new non pull-out cylindrical reduction sleeves for tools with 12mm and 16mm shanks. The chuck’s 25mm bore enables non pull-out sleeves to be used, as well as 25mm standard HRS and through face coolant HRTC reduction sleeves, for tools with shank diameters from 6mm to 20mm.

Examples from the full range of M.A. Ford tooling will also be on display, including high performance solid carbide and indexable products, as well as Rego-Fix® tool holding solutions. The company’s highly successful cutting data app for iOS and Android mobile devices will also be demonstrated and available for download from the stand.
