Following the unavoidable decision to reschedule the MACH exhibition until January 2021, M.A. Ford Europe’s exhibition stand contractor, Minerva Exhibitions, has re-deployed its skills to help protect reception and medical staff at GP surgeries in the South West of England.
Minerva was already anticipating the rescheduling of MACH, following the cancellation of most of the 2020 exhibitions it was involved with in Spain, Germany, Italy, Dubai and the USA, which decimated the company’s income in the space of just two weeks.
To offset this shortfall and play a part in helping medical services personnel stay safe during the Covid-19 outbreak, Minerva’s director, Joe Davies, discovered that staff at GP surgeries may be at risk from infection from patients, which could be restricted with the addition of clear barrier screens to shield reception desks.
As clear Perspex® is a core material for exhibition stand displays and Minerva had the staff and tooling to manufacture and install the screens, the company approached a number of local GP practices offering bespoke ‘Sneeze Screens’ for staff, which received an extremely positive response.
Every screen is ‘made to measure’ and installed by Minerva’s team in just 2 to 3 days. Incorporating rounded corners, polished edges and ‘cut-outs’ for passing documentation, each bespoke design meets individual reception desk requirements and are secured with chrome finish fixings.
Joe Davies explained: “The sudden loss of revenues was an incredible shock and although the experience wasn’t unique to us, we wanted to explore ways of offsetting the effect while utilising our skills and supporting those who are on the front line.”
He added: “It seemed to us that many staff at GP surgeries were vulnerable, so the ‘Sneeze Screen’ was developed. It has proven to be a tremendous help to surgery staff morale, as well as keeping us busy whilst staying safe. However, we’re looking forward to supporting M.A. Ford Europe at MACH 2021, along with our other clients. Fingers crossed that all the various events and exhibitions will gradually be reinstated during the next 12 months.”
